Volume 746 Pencil Set
Description
Designed in honour of a true engineering marvel, Blackwing's Volume 746 Pencil Set pays tribute to San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Bridge.
Considered an impossibility by some, the Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it opened in 1937, measuring 1.7 miles long, with a 4,200-foot main span and two 746-foot towers supporting the structure at either end. Not only did it face the incredible engineering challenges of bridging such a huge span, but the climate and location would create extra headaches for the engineers, with California's wild weather, ocean forces and the nearby San Andreas fault pushing the design to its limits. Despite those challenges, the calculations of Joseph B. Strauss and his team of engineers, designers, and planners, all done using pen and paper, proved to be up to the incredible task.
The Blackwing Volume 746 features a firm graphite core, and is finished with a special multi-layered technique to bring out the iconic International Orange colour of the Golden Gate Bridge.

With roots stretching back to the 1930s, the Blackwing 602 was the go-to pencil of artists, writers and designers for more than 60 years. After Blackwing loyalists had scoured the earth to find the last of their favourite pencils, Blackwing reintroduced the 602 in 2010, bringing the legend back to life for a whole new generation.
