Hold onto a piece of stationery history with the Blackwing Eras Palomino Limited Edition Pencil Set.
The original Blackwing name belonged to a pencil from the early 20th century that became a legend with creative folks like John Steinbeck, Chuck Jones and Disney animator Shamus Culhane. Made by Eberhard Faber, the 602's reputation only grew over the decades, until it was quietly discontinued in the late 90s. The myth endured, though, and pencil devotees scoured the globe for the remaining 602s, often paying more than $40USD for a single pencil.
Just a few years later, in the early 2000s, the company we now know as Blackwing released a premium pencil line called Palomino. Made using only the best materials and craftspeople, the Palomino was the 602's natural successor – so much so that Palomino would eventually be the ones to resurrect the Blackwing brand in 2010.
This entry in the Blackwing Eras range pays tribute to that pivotal moment in the history of both Blackwing in particular, and stationery as a whole. Recreating the iconic Palomino Orange and Blue barrels with the classic white eraser, gold ferrule and matching gold stripe, these pencils capture a moment in time that continues to influence pencil design to this day.
