The Pilot Kakuno fountain pen is specially designed to be the perfect introduction to full-sized writing instruments for beginners. "Kakuno" means "to write" in Japanese, and that's just what this pen helps you do! Whether you're a child or adult, there's much to love about this gorgeous collection, which is available in various colours.
The nib is what makes this pen extra special with a smiley face that faces up when writing, ensuring correct nib orientation. It's made of stainless steel with one breather hole and a single slit. The cap and body are made with 85% recycled plastic and have a hexagonal shape allowing fingers to naturally sit comfortably and in the correct position; and the shape also ensures it won't roll away on the desk, with a groove in the cap to help with removal. The cap includes the Pilot logo and Kakuno written in a cute font.
This pen includes one black ink cartridge, and it is compatible with Pilot IC-50 cartridge or bottled ink using a converter.

- Good value, nice line Review by Drue
- The description is "Medium" nib width but I would not want it much finer for everyday writing. Nice and light, comfortable. Lovely to use - but not so precious you might cry if it gets nicked. (Posted on 23/06/2017)
- Excellent budget pen Review by Evan
A good, dry writer that is still quite smooth (comparable in feel to a 0.5 mm rollerball). The section is slightly larger than other pens in the same price range, which can be more comfortable. Writes as well as other, wetter pens, but is more forgiving of poor paper. Comes with a cartridge, but can take a converter, so you can start off experimenting with inks right away.
Good for beginners or those looking for something cheap to carry around or to trial inks. (Posted on 14/04/2017)
