Noble, indeed! All Life Japanese Paper notebooks are made by hand by a small team of fewer than 40 experts, just outside of Tokyo. The paper stock used is incredibly smooth and an excellent writing experience. Each piece is not only glue-bound by hand but inspected for quality, ensuring a fantastic notebook!

Available here with lined ruling, it has 200 pages (100 Sheets) of smooth white paper and is a medium size, A5 (15x21cm).

The Life Japanese Paper company was founded in 1946 and has stuck to hand made production, insisting on the highest quality Japanese Stationery.

Almost perfect, but... Review by Margaret
I loved writing in this book from the first page. I use various fountain pens in the process of taking notes from books that I am reading. All the pens have nibs designated "fine", though some are finer than others. This is relevant because my main pen has a lovely wet nib which, every few pages, at the end of a page will feather. This is very disappointing on such beautiful paper, and I am writing this in the hope that the manufacturers will be able to fix this problem. The other thing that I didn't like about the book is the way that the cover is bound into the notebook itself. This is intrusive and takes up valuable millimetres of space at the end of lines for quite a number of pages! OK, so that's my criticism out of the way. Otherwise this is beautiful, nay dreamy paper to write on for 99.9% of the time. In general it takes writing from my wet nib with no problems at all, and there is barely any show-through, so that writing on both sides of the page is fine. The cover is card but stands up to a surprising amount of backpacking abuse, as mine, half-full, still doesn't have bent corners. I'm amazed at that. The binding is sewn and glued, and apart from my complaint about the cover, is very good indeed. I find myself becoming very fond indeed of this notebook, but I shan't give up my hunt for the perfect notebook yet. (Posted on 6/01/2018)
